When Madie left the hipster shores of Vancouver for Christchurch in 2019, she knew she'd be leaving a lot behind.
One crucial staple that she found missing in her new home? The beloved canadian donut experience. It was with this in mind that Grumpys was created.
Originating in North America in the 1830s (Don’t worry, ours are MUCH fresher than that!), sour cream style donuts are a classic.
Known for their ultra crisp and craggy exterior, yet delicate cake like interior, they don't only hit all the bases, but swing for the fences!
With the help of Chef Iain, Madie has brought her slice of home to Ōtauahi.
Grumpys donuts are full of delectable cracks and crevices, brimming with character and warmth just like the ones she so missed. A freshly fried donut in one hand and coffee in the other? You’re in for a great day ahead!
